He has served as Legal Advisor to the Kingdom of Bahrain for over 7 years in their Ministry of Cabinet Affairs (1994-2001). In this capacity, he had the opportunity to acquire considerable knowledge of the Laws and Legal systems of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) States and in the practical application of International Law at the Municipal Level. Besides reviewing all U.N. agreements, the Cabinet also examined Government contracts on all subjects including trade related matters. In addition, all bilateral agreements in the area of promotion and Protection of Investments, Avoidance of Double Taxation, Cultural, Educational, Scientific and Economic Co-operation were referred for opinion and it was his duty to provide the final Draft Agreements on the aforesaid subjects along with necessary comments to the concerned Ministries of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Cabinet was also involved in the preparation of Government Decrees, Orders, and Instrument of Ratification & Accession etc.
In addition to the above, he has written two books in Law and published over 45 articles in reputed law journals besides having served as the Honorary Member of the Karnataka State Law Commission for two years (2008-2010). He has put in 27 years of teaching experience in the Law faculty at the U.G and P.G levels.
Dr. Subramanya is a widely travelled man and has been a visiting Professor of Law to some of the finest Law Institutions in the country.
His interests include International Law, Environmental Law, Trade Law and Family Law.
